Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are a bit of an oddity. In such a civilized and advanced culture as ours, it seems out of place to have an entire industry revolving around the mistreatment of volunteers. People are paid (usually miniscule amounts of money, by the way) to be injected with random crap by doctors who assume no liability for what happens to them as a result. Let's say you start having uncontrollable bowel movements after a trial. Now let's say that they never stop. In either case, you won't be helped in any way by the people who gave you the drug. You knew what you were signing up for, basically.

With all of this horribleness on the surface, I have to imagine that there are even worse things underneath. Call me paranoid, but it seems to me that any time there is a public perception of something (no matter how awful the public perception is) there is always a darker underbelly. After the break is a handful of articles about people who died doing clinical trials.

People Are Tracking You

Whether you know it or not and whether you like it or not, companies are tracking your information. They are selling it for a profit and using it to understand more about how to control the average mind in order to make even more money. I know some of you are already breaking out the tinfoil hats for me, but the fact is that this isn't a theory anymore. It's an undisputed fact that companies like Facebook readily admit. After the break I have some disturbing articles in addition to a link to a Firefox add-on that quickly and easily makes it much harder for companies to track your browsing habits. I have also included links to a couple of search engines that don't track your information the way that Google does.

This is the new society, people. It doesn't matter how insignificant you think you are or how crazy this sounds to you. You are being used.

Videogame Deaths

Sorry again for my absence. Today I bring you a few video-game related deaths. To my knowledge, no one has ever died from playing a video game other than from exhaustion or murder. Still, it brings us to one of the more animalistic aspects of humanity that we will literally murder each other over fictional items.

Apologies!

I am sincerely sorry for the lack of updates. I have had the freaking summer flu for five days and I was in no shape to write anything. By the time I finally went to the doctor two days ago my temperature was at 101 F and I had already been sick for three days.

It sucked.

Last Bit

I've consolidated the rest of them into the following few and tomorrow I'll go back to other things. It really helps with the 'horror' aspect if you keep the right frame of mind and don't read them too quickly. Comment and let me know what you think, or post your own!
