This story falls under the category of "I can't believe this is legal" for me. Perhaps it's because it took place in Japan? Does Japan not have strict regulations on the preparation and serving of food?

Anyway, a guy cut off his dick and balls, advertised that he was going to cook and serve them to people for money, and over 70 people showed up to dinner.

The psychology behind this is staggering. The man, Mao Sugiyama, is asexual. In addition to his genitals, he has removed his nipples. He is not pursuing the option of having female genitalia surgically added or repairing himself in any way. The article and video linked after the break go into more detail than I need to here, but I'll say that it is definitely a bold statement for an artist to do something like this.

The creepiness begins at the point of him offering to cook and serve them. Up until that point I find nothing wrong with a person choosing to do with their body what they please. The idea that people not only are willing to sample such a delicacy but are willing to pay 100,000 yen to do so is just... fascinating. It describes a profoundly bored society that will jump on the chance to experience anything new. I don't have much to say about this particular entry, but I'd love to hear what you think.
